TikTok CEO Testifies Before Congress

Amid threats of a TikTok ban in the United States, TikTok's CEO, Shou Zi Chew, testified to Congress for nearly 5 hours. During the hearing, Chew said that TikTok would delete all user data from its servers and move American user data to Oracle servers based in the US. Among many other things, Chew said that "ByteDance [TikTok's parent company] is not an agent of China," and that TikTok wasn't "spying" on journalists while also admitting to scanning public videos to determine users' ages. Congress seems to be even more determined to ban TikTok with its 150 million active American users.
